Iceland is amazing in so many ways, so is the Golden Circle. The Golden Circle is the most popular tour in Iceland and excellent for those who want to get a feel for Iceland in one day.

The wide open landscape is like nothing you’ve ever seen before. This inland route is a mass of waterfalls, glaciers, geysers, lava fields, and, of course volcanoes.

The tour starts at you hotel, we pick you up in a modified 4×4 somewhere in Reykjavík and from there the adventure begins. The first stop is Þingvellir National Park a UNESCO world heritage site, the spectacular site of Iceland’s first parliament and the place where the Eurasian and North American continental tectonic plates meet – The plates are parting at an average rate of 2 cm a year tearing the valley apart.

There are widening fissures line the valley floor from the parting plates. From there we head to Geysir in Haukadalur the home of Geysir and Stokkur the erupting hot springs, The sheer power of water and steam erupting from the ground due to the build up of heat is a testament to how alive the Island is.

Next we make use of the modified 4×4 and head of the beaten track to Langjökull Glacier Europe’s second biggest glacier. There we have the option of going snowmobiling or just driving up to nearly a kilometer height and enjoying the amazing views by the glacier such as Jarlhettur and Bláfell and all the way down to the south coast of Iceland.

After enjoying the breathtaking landscapes the glacier area has to offer we head back down to Gullfoss one of Iceland’s most spectacular waterfalls that is in the river of Hvítá or White river.

The cafeteria at Gullfoss is home of Iceland’s best meat soup. Next the course is plotted for Reykjavík, On the road back to Reykjavik, you pass through Hveragerdi a greenhouse village, an excellent example of how Icelanders harness and utilise the geothermal energy beneath our feet. the beautiful, environment on the way back to the capital holds many secret and breathtaking places.

Driving over Hengill volcanic system where you find Hellisheiðarvirkjun Iceland’s flagship in geothermal utilization is a great example of how renewable energy is being utilized in Iceland.

The best way to see the golden circle Is with a professional guide and driver, The roads can be Icy and rugged, and to see the glacier up close you need a modified 4×4 to get there. We will take you where the bus tour can’t!
