SOUTH COAST ENERGY
Have you heard of Iceland’s geothermal energy, the beautiful waterfalls, and black sand beach? The South Coast has all of that, and much more. We travel by minibus with a small group, seeing lava fields, volcanoes and glaciers. We visit the Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls, and the black sand beach of Reynisfjara with its rich birdlife during summer, and basalt rocks. The sea stacks of Reynisdrangar are a well known sight there.
Our cherry on top of the cake is the Power Plant of Hellisheiðarvirkjun, the Geothermal Energy Exhibition. Clean energy is of foremost interest for many, and here you’ll get see how Iceland harnesses its rich geothermal energy right between the continental plates. This is the second largest geothermal power station in the world, and it’s located by Volcano Hengill.
There’ll be many secret stops along the way, as usual with us, but we can’t tell you anything about it because, as it’s often said … “only Guide knows” :) We will give you a taste of Icelandic stockfish, our well known harðfiskur, which is considered a “must” when coming to Iceland. Have fun!
