2- DAY SNAFELLSNES TOUR WHALE WATCHING, WATERFALLS, CAVING & HOT SPRINGS
Join this tour for a fairytale adventure through the Snæfellsnes peninsula. Less than 3 hours from Reykjavik, this area combines all the wonders of Iceland in one place: the sea crashing upon the sandy shores, jagged lava fields, waterfalls, imposing cliffs for hiking and photography, and small fishing villages for those who are curious about the culture Iceland.
This tour is for anyone looking to relax after a day of hiking, snowmobiling or ice climbing, and for anyone who wants to immerse themselves in Iceland’s natural beauty. You’ll be picked up at your accommodation in Reykjavik and carried off through the countryside.
This tour also gives you more time to enjoy: You’ll spend a night in a charming hotel Fransiskus in the town Stykkisholmur where the famous movie "the secret life of Walter Mitty" was filmed. The day after you continue exploring the area before you return to the city.
Snæfellsnes is also home to one of three national parks in Iceland, with Snæfellsjökull glacier in the middle. You’ll have an opportunity to explore the deep places of Iceland with a hike through a canyon cut into the mountain, a lava cave to explore and imposing rock formations on the coast.
Then, after a restful night, you’ll head off to the open water with a whale watching tour, followed by another drive to view rushing waterfalls and rivers. At the famous Bjarnarhöfn Shark Museum, you'll see treasures and tools collected during a lifetime at sea.
There may even be fresh hákarl (the famous “rotten shark”) to try, dried in a shed behind the museum several times per year, along with a taste of Icelandic cumin schnapps to wash it down. For those who feel a cold coming on, the fumes are great for what ails ya, so don’t be shy. Take a big bite!
